The Gray, Georgia, community and members of Brewton-Parker Christian University are mourning Ella Grace Jenkins, an 18-year-old student-athlete whose life ended following a traffic crash in Laurens County.
Jenkins was a recent graduate of Jones County High School and had begun her freshman year at Brewton-Parker, where she joined the university’s softball program.
Her death came only weeks into a new chapter of college life.
Fatal Crash in Laurens County
The collision occurred on the evening of September 27, 2026, near Georgia Highway 31 and Springhaven Road.
Authorities said Jenkins was traveling as a passenger in a Chevrolet Colorado when the pickup became involved in a multi-vehicle collision.
The crash involved a tractor-trailer and another passenger vehicle.
Jenkins sustained critical injuries and was taken for emergency medical treatment but did not survive.
